It all started with computer disk drives – wheels in a can. A ready-made stationary hub with shiny spinning wheels. In those days, I clinked the platters together and they went ping and I thought that sounded interesting. So I made wind chimes.
They were simple to make but didn’t really make music. Disk drive platters are not made of resonant metal – they don’t really ping so much as make semi-musical punk. So I starting making wheeled things instead, but someday I am going to make something which does sing.
Unlike Things With Wings, these creations can actually roll across the table, off of the table and down to the floor – and therefore back to my workbench to be glued back together.
